Employers (most of whom
are near campus) are actively seeking UT students to fill their openings. To ensure that you have the best chance of
snagging a part- time job, be sure to research the companies in which you are
interested and try to target your resume to that particular job or
company. Have your resume critiqued in
advance—walk-in hours are available in the Office of Career Services Monday
through Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. And,
last but not least, make a favorable first impression by your professional
appearance! Business casual is the
appropriate attire. For men, that means
khaki or dark slacks, a polo or cotton button-down shirt, polished leather
shoes (not sandals or athletic shoes), and clean, well-groomed hair and facial
hair. For women, that means khaki or
dark slacks or skirt (knee length or slightly above); a blouse, shirt, or
sweater; nice flats or low heels (no sandals, flip-flops, or athletic shoes),
well-groomed hair; and minimal make-up.
